Old Saint Mitch Langerak has come a long way since his time as a Football crazy teen in Bundaberg. After graduating from St Luke's in 2005, Mitch went on to forge an impressive career as a professional Football player, signing with Melbourne Victory in 2007 before playing for Borussia Dortmund and VfB Stuttgart in Germany, and Nagoya Grampus in Japan.
At the end of 2024, after years playing in the international spotlight, Mitch answered the call to return home to Australia – and to Melbourne Victory – where he has hung up his boots and is now transitioning to a coaching role at the club to develop the next generation of Football stars.
St Luke's recently had the honour of welcoming Mitch back to campus, where he enjoyed a tour of the School, connected with staff and students alike and took time out to sign autographs. While so much has changed over the years, Mitch noted that one thing remains constant: the strong sense of community that defines St Luke's. Mitch's talent and passion for the game are extraordinary, and his visit left students feeling inspired and empowered to chase their own sporting dreams.
